Happy camper

Overall very satisfied and the breakfast was really good. The bed was comfortable but maybe the only thing I can complain about is the fridge in our room was just lukewarm and you need to pay for parking.

Centrally Located Business Hotel

It is a four-star property. The room are spacious with good interiors. The restaurant ambiance is good with international cuisine and daily seasonal specials, The breakfast buffet beckons with fresh waffles and a versatile selection of dishes. For dinner their is quiet terrace in the property and it also has a expansive hotel garden

The Luisenpark across the street was lovely

Mid October my wife and I drove down to Mannheim to meet prior business associates with whom I had worked before retirement. Since they were on a tight schedule coming out of the USA, I only had about 36 hours to find a room in Mannheim. This was very last minute for me, and in the city center where I used to stay everything was booked out, but I was able to find a room at the Mercure am Friedensplatz, but at a very high price. Looking on-line now I see multiple offers for this hotel at over 120 euros cheaper than what we had to pay. One has to wonder about their pricing policies. The room we received on the 5th floor was typical of hotel rooms that were built in the 1990's, German modern furniture. It was all in good order, everything was clean and tidy, and what one normally expects to find in a business oriented hotel was there, to include an ironing board and steam iron. We did find that some of the packages of coffee/tea, and sugar were missing from the coffee service in the room. There was also two unexpected visitors which we removed from the room via the window (strange bugs). We did not eat at the hotel, so I cannot comment on the restaurant or the breakfast service. The WiFi in our room worked OK. Take note that parking in the hotel's lot in front of the building is 9.00 Euro per day. If you arrive in time however, there are some free parking spots on the street leading up to the hotel. The hotel is across the street, and about 1/2 block from the main entrance to the Luisenpark. The park is lovely, very large, and well worth visiting if you are not in Mannheim on a business schedule. The hotel is on a busy corner. It is a block off of the end of the autobahn coming into Mannheim, and there is a traffic light at that corner. There is also tram tracks on two sides of the hotel, running down the middle of the 4 lane streets. Unless you are a heavy sleeper, you will want to keep the windows closed - there is Air Co so you can keep it cool. .

Very Good

In general, good selection for breakfast buffet. Bad: The scrambled eggs were just lukewarm when we came for breakfast at 0930. Expensive water with dinner in restaurant, charged same as for a glass of beer.

Quiet room, very comfortable. Excellent receptionist Peter, I just recall his first name but he was indeed a perfect role model for his job. Bad: Very slow WLAN

Exceptional

I love the fact that it was easy to get to. Not downtown or congested. I felt safe and comfortable. Parking was only 9€. Breakfast was great!!! Bad: There wasn’t a fitness room. No refrigerator.

Good

Over all experience was good. Staff was good. I have stayed on this hotel couple of times however this time I have small comments. The bathmats were not exchanged. The sugar was not refilled for the coffee making machine. It could be that the room service was too busy or did not notice it. Otherwise the hotel was good.

The price was not high, so nice hotel for such price. But better to renovate a little bit.

Hotel parking, staff Bad: 1. Hotel is clean in general, but better to change beds - mattress is not in good condition already, so not comfortable. 2. Maybe it was missed only in our room, but... there was no hand soap at all. To was hands with shampoo is quite strange :)

Addressing some small issues would make a big difference to the impression the guest leaves with.

Staff respond quickly when things that should work don't. But frankly, I'd prefer things to work from the onset. Coffee-maker, Internet, etc Room and bath very clean, great view and quiet. Fridge in the room, albeit no mini-bar. Bad: Internet is not what you'd expect at this price point. The included ('free') version doesn't allow you to use any data other than for the NY Times (eg no Facebook, no Gmail...) But even the "paid" version I was given (for free) is rather cumbersome to use and comes with unnecessary limitations. It won't eg let you use your phone and laptop at the same time. Why not? The "thecloud" interface isn't up to current standards and won't maintain state. Can't be used without trickery on modern phones (Galaxy S8). Mercure would be well advised to facilitate their own web connectivity services in house like most other Hotel of this scope do. Hallways looked like they've been vacuumed last in 1965. Coffee-maker in my room didn't work; instructions provided were for a different model. But staff were friendly and brought one up. Still, I'd rather not trouble them and have it work instead.

The Mercure hotel kept me cool during some of the hottest days of the year.

The room was quiet. It was nice to have trees and a garden surrounding the hotel. It was close to public transport, which was useful. The airconditioning was so perfect during this hot summer. Bad: No kettle in the room! I don't drink coffee or Earl Grey tea made in the coffee machine. Please provide kettles.

Good

Bed was comfy, breakfast excellent Bad: Internet was sooo slow. Or you could spend 9.90 euro for decent Wi-Fi.. The a/c was dismally weak.

Good place

Th hotel is Nice Clean Organized Professional stuff Good breakfast 30 min walk from city center but was good choice for me as it was near to my office I would recommend it for business stay It has no pool

Ahmed A on TripAdvisor, 07.08.2018

Good

They say free WiFi, but it’s extremely slow, can’t use it for anything. If you want proper internet you have to pay 9 eur per day. Very inaccurate to say free wifi.

Sherif on Booking.com, 04.08.2018

Stop in Mannheim

Parking possibilities (€ 9 p/day) Bed was comfortable Check-out time till 12:00 Bad: Little bit outside of the city - not really interesting places nearby. But you could easily reach Marktplatz by car.

Decent hotel in Mannheim

Stayed for 2 nights. Hotel was conveniantly located for my needs. Service was good and room was fine with decent amnesties. Hotel is not new and that is starting to show but it seems that rooms are well maintained.

David on Hotels.com, 29.07.2018

2 night stay

Stayed 2 night at the Mercure. Hotel is far from new although I have no complaints about comfort, cleanliness or service. Staff was friendly and helpful and I found the hotel to be very conveniently located for my needs. Good value for the money. Would definitely stay again.

Perfect for short business stay

Very basic but good hotel on a quiet location. You are very quickly on the main roads. A couple of good dinner and breakfast options nearby. Free parking on the road leading up to the entrance of the hotel. Bad: It's a bit far from the city centre.
